{"id":5401,"date":"2013-09-23T05:00:01","date_gmt":"2013-09-23T09:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whamit.mit.edu\/?p=5401"},"modified":"2013-09-23T18:18:10","modified_gmt":"2013-09-23T22:18:10","slug":"m90-happened","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ling-phil.mit.edu\/whamit\/2013\/09\/23\/m90-happened\/","title":{"rendered":"M@90 happened!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Friday and Saturday, about 130 linguists gathered at MIT for <a href=\"http:\/\/m90.mit.edu\">M@90:\u00a0Workshop on Stress and Meter to celebrate Morris Halle&#8217;s 90th birthday<\/a>, where phonologists celebrated Morris&#8217;s achievements as a researcher, teacher and &#8220;founder of modern phonology&#8221; (to quote Noam Chomsky&#8217;s introduction to Morris&#8217;s own talk) &#8212; while simultaneously making progress on some of the toughest problems in stress theory and meter (linguistic, poetic, musical). A great celebration honoring the greatest of linguists, our colleague, our teacher, our friend.
