Our dissertating student Christopher Legerme spent part of the summer presenting some of his dissertation research on Contextual Morphology and the Syntax-Phonology Interface, from Bantu to French Creole. He presented a poster at LingO 2026 in Oxford, London in June and a talk at SPCL 2026 in Aarhus, Denmark in August. His work compares contextual morphological alternations across Bantu and French-lexified Creole languages, using their parallels to reflect on how syntax and phonology interact in determining morphological form.
